After a close encounter with the mighty forces of nature during Hurricane Helene, Jacob Bearden reached out to the Loll team to share his story. We were relieved to hear that his family and home are safe—and it warmed our hearts to know that Loll was able to bring a moment of levity to him and his loved ones during such a challenging time.

A resident of Black Mountain, North Carolina, Jacob, experienced firsthand the ruggedness of his Loll, even in the face of the worst conditions after Hurricane Helene unleashed a daunting 31 inches of rain on his home. Jacob found himself squarely on the front lines of the storm, with his loved ones and their possessions hanging in the balance. During the hurricane, the flood water velocity reached 65 MPH, uprooting a small tree and sweeping one of Jacob’s Loll chairs downstream.

After the flood subsided, he faced a challenging cleanup, digging through mud and debris for his belongings. To his relief, amongst the debris his Loll chair emerged with only minor scratches, showcasing its strength. Hurricane Helene indeed offered a powerful affirmation of Loll’s commitment to durability. Jacob's impactful story of the resilience of his Loll products confirms the importance of having durability as a priority in producing our furniture.

We are relieved Jacob and his family made it through and we sincerely thank him for sharing this moment with us and believing in Loll!
