You probably know this by now, but as a company, Loll Designs has a great appreciation for craft beer. We love good beer and working with like-minded companies that produce it. One such company is Bent Paddle Brewing Co. Bent Paddle is a 30-barrel production craft brewery and taproom located in our hometown of Duluth, Minnesota. Their four flagship beers as well as specialty beers and seasonal beers are available in kegs and in 12-ounce cans at bars, liquor stores, restaurants and event facilities throughout Minnesota and beyond. You can also sip on a pint or pick up a growler at their on-site taproom. We’ve been working with Bent Paddle since the company launched publicly in May 2013. Our partnership began with tap handles we created using our signature recycled plastic material and domed urocals from fellow Minnesota company Douglas Corporation. We then created the company’s beer flights for their taproom. Last year, we designed a recycled plastic cover that transforms a keg into a handy stool. The cover has all right grooves so it fits perfectly atop a keg – an ideal spot for lollygagging with a cold one. Our latest collaboration is the Lollygagger Pale Ale. A flavorful West-coast style pale ale, the Lollygagger Pale Ale is now available at the Bent Paddle taproom and will be sold in cans in the next couple weeks. We’re especially excited about this project, because Loll and Bent Paddle are donating 5 percent of all sales to our friends at Cyclists of Gitchee Gumee Shores (COGGS). One of our 1% for the Planet recipients, COGGS is working to build the Duluth Traverse – the first 100+ mile system of single-track all within an urban environment. The contributions from this brew will help the organization complete the trail. To date, 54 miles of the planned 100-mile trail have been completed. If COGGS continues at its current pace, COGGS says the entire trail could be finished as soon as 2017, at a total cost of around $4 million when finished. Locals, we are holding a Lollygagger Pale Ale launch celebration July 8 from 6pm-11pm at Bent Paddle. There will be live music, food, a special Lolly cask, and plenty of beer and lollygagging to go around. Cheers to drinking for a great cause!
