Architect David Salmela practices in our hometown of Duluth, Minnesota. We first worked with David when he reinterpreted our manufacturing space we call Hawks Boots in 2004. His residential and commercial projects have won over 50 regional & national architectural design awards and his work has been published internationally in journals such as I.D., Monocle and Architectural Review. Tom Fisher, dean of the University Of Minnesota College Of Design, has written two books on his work, "Salmela Architect" & "The Invisible Element of Place". David’s refreshing sense of wonder to the natural world, related in pure modern forms, shines through in the pieces he created for Loll. Mostly named after his numerous grandchildren, David’s Finnish heritage is also a clear statement in this unique outdoor furniture collection.
