Parley Hawai'i + Loll Designs: Protecting the Planet from Plastic Waste

Parley Hawai'i + Loll Designs: Protecting the Planet from Plastic Waste

This Earth Day, we’re proud to celebrate our core values of environmental wellness with Parley For the Oceans. On April 24, 2021, local network Parley Hawai’i will open one of its first AIR Stations, an educational outpost on the grounds of the Bishop Museum in Honolulu, and we’re donating the onsite outdoor furniture - so the communal space has lounging and gathering spaces for learning, brainstorming and appreciating the outdoors.

Named for the Parley AIR Strategy (Avoid, Intercept, Redesign), the AIR Station will be a communal hub set up for youth to interact, learn, access new technologies, and collaborate on solutions for the oceans, empowering a new class of ambassadors for a global ocean movement. The AIR Station also hosts an Upcycling Center, providing workshop opportunities for visitors to upcycle plastic intercepted during local coastal cleanups into new products. This is an unique chance for individuals to take local action, transforming a material that was once a symbol of a threat to Hawai‘i’s ecosystem into a symbol of change.

We’re always proud to support like-minded organizations such as Parley. Whether from the shores of Lake Superior, or the coasts of Hawaii, it’s easy to see the impact plastic pollution and other threats have on our marine environment; and it’s much more difficult to solve the problem. We’re more than eager to lend a hand to Parley’s mission and support of local education, awareness campaigns and community engagement to drive change and spread our reach beyond our beloved Duluth and into global perspective. If you’re wondering what you can do to help, in Duluth, we organize annual Clean Yer Creek events. And the Parley Global Cleanup Network works to remove plastic waste from beaches, remote islands, rivers, mangroves and high seas, and intercept ocean-bound plastics in coastal communities - working to save the planet we call home.
